My Aim in Life – To Become a Teacher (Composition/Essay)

Every individual has some kind of aim in life. It is always good to develop an ambition, for a person without any aim is truly unfortunate. Such a person is like a piece of paper tossed about by the wind—aimless and directionless, at the mercy of chance. People without a definite goal reach nowhere in life and fail to achieve anything worthwhile.

Ambition is an essential part of life. However, merely having an ambition is not enough; one must also work hard to achieve it. Vigorous effort is the key to success. Without determination and hard work, no ambition can be fulfilled. Each of us has different aims in life—some want wealth, others fame. Some aspire to become engineers, doctors, lawyers, businessmen, or political leaders. Like others, I too have an aim in my life: I want to become a teacher.

Wealth does not attract me, nor am I drawn to the glamorous life of a film star. I want to serve the youth of my nation in a humble yet meaningful way. In my country, nearly 40 percent of the population is illiterate. I want to educate my country's youth because I believe education is the most powerful tool for progress. Although teaching is not a highly paid profession, I still wish to become a teacher, as money is not my ultimate aim in life.

By becoming a teacher, I want to be a guide, philosopher, and true friend to my students. I want to open their minds to the light of knowledge through the power of education. Today, our nation faces two major challenges—superstition and illiteracy. I believe these problems can only be overcome through proper education. I have the zeal and dedication to contribute toward this noble cause.

As a teacher, I will not only share academic knowledge but also help my students develop strong moral character. I will inspire them with a spirit of patriotism and make them aware of their rights and duties as citizens. I will show them the path of truth so that they can lead virtuous and meaningful lives.
